Abstract

In the current context of increasing agility, where flexibility is a requirement for companies to adapt to new world scenarios, methodological structures are needed to facilitate project development processes to keep up with such an accelerated pace. This article aims to adapt the agile Design Sprint methodology to the academic environment, using the case of the Interdisciplinary Design Laboratory VII (Lab VII) course of the Design Program at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS), in the 2023/1 academic period. The article presents the course schedule and procedural guidelines, as well as some results of solution proposals developed by the students.

Author Biographies

Silvia Trein Heimfarth Dapper, Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul

Guilherme Parolin, Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul

Assistant Professor in the Undergraduate Design Program at the School of Communication, Arts and Design (FAMECOS) at PUCRS, co-founder of the creative games brand Imagine-me, and Ph.D. candidate in Design (UFRGS). He holds a degree in Design - product design specialization (UFRGS) and a Master's in Design (UFRGS), with research on the application of Social Network Analysis to the study of interactions in Collaborative Design. His ongoing doctoral thesis analyzes the phenomenon of Design alternative selection based on the concept of Design Rationale, aiming to facilitate the designer's decision-making process (provisional title: "Proposition of an Informational Model for the Selection of Design Alternatives"). He has over 10 years of market experience as a designer, and academically, his main interests and research lines lie at the intersection of the creative process and data science, particularly in the area of data visualization as a support for business intelligence and processes.
