Abstract

This article is the result of the project actions, which is called "The lens captures what the heart feels: continuities and transformations in the architectural heritage of the city of Londrina, and addresses the major tranformations in a specific place in the city of Londrina: the pedestrian zone. It is understood that the study of the pedestrian zone, based on analysis of sources, is a significant issue for the teaching of History in Elementary Education. To compose the analyzes presented here was used oral and written sources and also images were used, as newspaper accounts, and bibliographic searches. Tracing a timeline about the social impacts on the pedestrian zone in each transformation of it, the goal is to make reflections and prepare teaching materials from the historical recovery of the place in question, having as the storyline the reforms in the space. In 2011, during the removal of the floor, a piece of the past forgotten by some and not seen by others became present: the drawings of coffee branches that adorned the square Gabriel Martins in the 1970s.
