Abstract

This paper presents an approach on the use of images in tourism and its historiographic importance. To that end, the analysis is based on the theoretical contributions of the Orientalist approach, evidencing the stereotypes of tourism and, consequently, the creation of the fetish in the tourism industry. Thus, this study exposes theoretical elements for new analyzes involving the historical construction of tourism discourse, especially on the use that stereotyped images can generate.
