Through a comparison between Lima Barreto’s Recordações do Escrivão Isaías Caminha and Romeu Crusoé’s A Maldição de Canaan, this article intends to analyze the denunciation of racial prejudice in Brazil, through the point of view of two antihero narrators that succumb to the system. Both works express the indignation of characters who in the retrospective of their lives tell about many kinds of discrimination they have suffered in order to unmask the hypocrisy of a country that proclaims to be prejudice free.Downloads
