This paper aims at the discussion of the main characteristics of Afro-Brazilian literary production, with focus on the theoretical propositions by Damasceno (1988) e Bernd (1988). Diverging slightly from those authors, we propose the idea that black literature is produced by black authors, with a worldview and the specific historic experience of subjects who acknowledge/affirm themselves as blacks. Thus, the aesthetic effectiveness of black literature is directly related to the forms of perceiving the world and the values of the black experience.Downloads
