Representations of the Tchetchenia War in O Filho da Mãe, by Bernardo Carvalho

This article investigates the question of representation of the Tchetchenia War in the novel O filho da mãe, by Bernardo Carvalho, emphasizing the relations between fiction and history. With this novel, we advance in our researches on Brazilian contemporary fiction and, supported by Carvalhos’s work, we will show the way literary discourse imposes itself as an important source for the reflections concerning cultural and political affairs of the contemporary world, among them the problem of the wars.Downloads
