The objective of this paper is to make a review of two novels written by Caio Fernando Abreu in the seventies, both with roots in the genre of memoir: “Lixo e purpurina” and “London, London ou Ajax, brush and rubbish”. These two texts approach the exile experience in Brazilian dictatorship as a way to denounce the injustices that are inherent to contexts of authoritarianism. Furthermore, it is possible to associate the condition of the exile with the freudian concept of uncanny (unheimlich). The term carry a intrinsic duplicity, what could be associated with the ambiguity of the exile experience.Downloads
