This essay investigates how Mia Couto through his literary works contributes for a des This essay investigates how Mia Couto through his literary works contributes for a destabilization and resultant review on paradigms and society’s values that are supported to maintain sexual stereotypes alive. By deconstructing the transvestite’s commonsensible representation the author dilutes the borders in the trinomial hetero/homo/bisexual, controverting the hierarchical pillars on which are based the patriarchal society and its power relationships. By showing the fluidity of the characters’ gender identity he collaborates to problematize any certainties concerned to sexual orientations, changing the most current representations of homosexuality.References
