This paper analyses memory and subjectivity’s drama in the constitution of a “dramatic (without subject)”, between dream and reality, in one of the first drama texts by Fernando Pessoa: Drama estático em um quadro: o marinheiro. This concept of drama is able to set aside subjectivity itself, which is presupposed to have central importance to the self narration. Denying chronology and physical action, the Static drama activates imagery, such as in a painting. Living the images of a dream threatens the idea of a factual past, of an unchangeable identity and of a voluntary memory.Downloads
