The poetry of Sosígenes Costa shows a mixture of traces from the Parnasian, Symbolism, and Baroque styles, as in his original “Sonetos Pavônicos,” even though the poet approaches a Modern style, mainly through demonstrating similarity with some of the intertextual resources preffered by modernist writers, such as parody. The tangential nature of the poetry of Sosígenes Costa, in addition to his own delay in publishing the Obra Poética, contributed to the difficulty of his inclusion in the national literary panorama. For that reason, the work of Sosígenes Costa, after more than a century since the poet’s birth, still awaits greater visibility.Downloads
