Social Work and challenges and contributions of the Social Worker in the regulation of a highly complex hospital in Belém (PA)

Abstract

This article is the result of research carried out to obtain the title of specialist at the University of the State of Pará (UEPA) and proposes to discuss the professional practice of Social Workers in a state hospital of high complexity in Belém (PA), which make up the minimum team of the Internal Regulation Center (NIR); characterized as the technical-administrative unit that monitors the patient's arrival at the institution, during the hospitalization process, until hospital discharge. For this purpose, the methodology is based on a literature and document review; Qualitative, exploratory research was also privileged, carried out through the application of a form. It was found that the requirements addressed to the Social Worker in the NIR Manual and by the institution were not accompanied by proper training, as well as revealing the lack of dialogue with the professional category for the implementation of the service. It is also possible to identify the importance of Social Workers in this scenario, since they offer a look at the particularities of patients during the length of hospital stay, and expand the feasibility of rights of these users of the Unified Health System (SUS) through discharge qualified hospital.
