Abstract

This article presents results derivatives of a scientific initiation research that aimed to determine the effectiveness and identify the possibility of incorporation by the Brazilian institutional framework, national and international normative instruments that guarantee basic rights and dignity of women in prison settings. Through empirical methodology, instruments were designed to verify the level of compliance, by the Paraná Women's Penitentiary, in relation to the selected rules. Despite the obstacles to providing information, research on alternative sources has shown that the rules, which are already international, have not been effective enough to bring about change in the penitentiary sphere.
