Abstract

This text deals with the formal configuration of parenthetical insertions and the role that they play in the construction of spoken language. This presentation begins with the characterization of the kinds of rupture of the topic sequence (parenthetical insertions and digressions) and, in the sequence, the insertions are classified according to these variables: formal configuration; formal marks of the sentence in which parenthetical segments are inserted; discourse element to which the insertions refer.

Doutor em Filologia e Língua Portuguesa (1990) pela Universidade Estadual de São Paulo (USP); mestre em Língua Portuguesa (1980) pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP) e graduado em Letras - Português Francês (1969) pela USP. Atua como Docente do Programa Pós-Graduação em Estudos da Linguagem da Universidade Estadual de Londrina.
