Possessive phrases: the diachronic trajectory of the loss of aNP Pleno in Brazilian Portuguese

In Brazilian Portuguese possessive constructions containing the prepositional "a" were considered grammatical in the 19th century and agrammatical in the 20th century. This paper presents a quantitative analysis of this change and discusses two hypotheses to explain it.
