Abstract

The Atlas Lingüístico de Mato Grosso do Sul project has the purpose of offering support for researchers and teachers to incorporate the linguistic diversity into language teaching, evidencing the linguistic cultural characteristics from different regions of the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. The research employs geolinguistic and sociolinguistic methods for the study of historical, geographical, social, ecological ant ethnographic aspects of Mato Grosso do Sul. The interviews are made by direct and indirect method, and they are phonetically and graphematically transcribed. The informants are stratified according to sex, age, level of instruction and place of birth. The research embraces thirty-two locations with four informants each (two male and two female individuals).

Possui graduação em Letras pela Faculdade Auxilium de Filosofia Ciencias E Letras de Lins (1970) , especialização em Especialização Em Linguística pela Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (1973) , especialização em Especialização Em Língua Portuguesa Redação pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (1973) , mestrado em Letras pela Universidade do Sagrado Coração (1982) , doutorado em Lingüística Aplicada e Estudos da Linguagem pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (1989) e pós-doutorado pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1995) . Atualmente é professor titular da Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul.
