In this article, emphasis is placed on the importance of scientific investigation associated with the complex domain of argumentation, and a historical route is provided aimed at evaluating, under scientific principles, the key issues of greek-latin Rhetoric, which was devoted to the art of convincing and to the techniques of discussion; and the New Rhetoric studies which focused on language as an act of persuasion so encouraging the birth of Argumentative Semantics.
