Abstract

This research intends to investigate the origin of some characteristic features of rural dialect based on presuppositions of Sociolinguistics and on the analyses of interviews with rural informants. This study stems from the observation of the conservative feature of this dialect, revealing traces which reconstitute the formation of the Portuguese language in Brazil. It is hoped that the results from this research can help other researchers who study languages and societies.

Joyce Elaine de Almeida, Universidade Estadual de Londrina

Possui graduação em Letras Anglo Portuguesas e Literaturas pela Universidade Estadual de Londrina (1989), mestrado em Letras pela Universidade Estadual de Londrina (1996) e doutorado em Lingüística e Língua Portuguesa pela Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (2005). Atualmente é professor titular da Universidade Estadual de Londrina.
