In the past few years scientists have shown that some kinds of organisms utilize the geomagnetic field as a mechanism of orientation. Last September, in analyzing samples of water and sediments collected from Igapo Lake, in Londrina neighborhood, we realized that it also contained this kind of microorganisms, which also utilizes magnetic field lines for its orientation.
