Espondilose deformante na região lombo-sacra em bovinos. Relato de dois casos

Abstract

In this work the clinical, radiological and anatomical-pathological aspects of two cases of Spondylosis-deformans on the lombo-sacral region of two bulls of Holstein race. Are described one bull was eight years old and the other was ten years old, they were bordered upon stables for five years to semen colect. The clinical symptoms were confirmed, the treatment was made with Novalgina, Predef Bituelve 15.000 and Solution glicofisiology solution to 5% but it didn'd give the desired response. The picture was aggravated by the development hypotonia of the rumen and tympanitis although they were medicated by esophaghus via with magnesium sulphate + magnesium chloride, Blo-trol. The decease of the bulls ocurred three and five after the initial symptoms. The necropsy exam detected moderate protuberance of the lumbar vertebras and first sacral being still envolved by haematomas in organization stage. The vertebral segments were submited to radiographic exam. It evidenced, precisely, big proliferation of osteofitus, constituting a difuse osseus mass which connected ventrally the last lumbar vertebras. By literature revision, about the subject, it was concluded that the ocurrence of Spondylosis at bovine reproducers, maintened in intensive regime of semen colect, through the riding, is due of constant overload on vertebral column, when at the jump moment and manikin descended.
