Family agriculture public policies in Brazil

This article analyzes the relationship between some family agriculture public policies and their effects on the development of this type of agriculture in Brazil. It analyzes the National Program for Strengthening Family Agriculture – Pronaf, which has contributed strongly for the development of the sector , mainly in the Southern region of the country; the implementation of the Rural Social Welfare Program as a palliative to social exclusion; and the Food Acquisition Program –PAA which guarantees the purchasing of great part of family agriculture and cattle raising production.
