Apresentação: um mundo em chamas

Um mundo em chamas que, agora, tornou-se impossível de se ignorar. Tempos difíceis, "tiempo nublado". Não é de hoje que teses acerca do risco de dissolução da sociedade - independentemente de qual seja o meio para isso - tomam o debate público. Em linhas gerais, segundo essa linha de argumentação a sociedade contemporânea viveria em permanente risco de dissolução. De um lado, se pensa na desestruturação do tecido social, decorrência de um modo de vida cada vez mais individualista. De outro lado, há o temor de que o planeta seja dizimado por uma catástrofe ambiental, por uma terceiras guerra mundial de feições nucleares ou mesmo uma combinação de ambos os cenários! (Bauman, 1998; Beck, 2011). A condição humana, para retomar Arendt (2009), continua peça chave para pensar os nossos dilemas. O tempo presente não conseguiu superá-los. A humanidade foi capaz de gerar bens materiais, tecnológicos e científicos inimagináveis para gerações precedentes; mas foi também capaz de fazer usos absurdos desses mesmos bens... O capitalismo contemporâneo tem conduzido os indivíduos às pressões mais inusitadas, inéditas na história, especialmente ao exigir dos profissionais uma incessante capacidade de readaptação, sobretudo estando apto e aberto às transformações requeridas pela corporação, independentes do tipo.
