Playing with the body and moving meanings

This article aims to enhance Angel Vianna's conception of body play, based on a bibliographical research that presents the bases that support the concept of play from Huizinga (1990) and Caillois (1990). The game is conceptualized in relation to self-cultivation, from the perspective that the ways in which the game works in people's lives and in cultural practices, moves the subjects' senses about themselves, others and the world. Body games are characterized as an opportunity for us to constantly discover our body and explore the adventures it can offer us. By bringing body play together with a broader concept of play and producing dialogue between terms, an entry into the field is suggested that contributes to the expansion of meanings in new articulations with other authors.
