Approaches to Achille Mbembe’s thought from the work Crítica da Razão Negra

Abstract

The objective of the present text is to discuss the central points of Crítica da Razão Negra and to highlight that the so-called thought in crossing and in circulation, defended by Achille Mbembe, presents fundamental issues to reflect on how Eurocentrism configures itself as a set of epistemologies of self-enclosure and self-contemplation, since it does not recognize and, even more so, depreciates other forms of knowledge. To do so, it was based on a qualitative research in an effort to unite the author and his work considering the multiple complexities of being intellectuals from the global epistemic south in a world where the recognized science is that of the epistemic north. As a methodological procedure, the chosen path went through a careful reading of the work Crítica da Razão Negra, systematization of the main ideas, and organization of the final text. The problematic of the discussion starts from the contextualization of Eurocentric world perceptions and the effort to offer new decolonial visions, especially for the socio-spatial understanding of the African continent.
