Welfare : the course of a concept

The Constitution of 1988 states that social order is founded on the primacy of work and aims at the social welfare and justice. Considering the various distinct meanings attributed to the word welfare, this article attempts to review its historical traces and correlated conceptions such as quality of life and social welfare. It contains, in addition, a critical appreciation of the contents of each concept, their attributes and the configurations they have been acquiring contemporarily.
