Abstract

This paper aims at discussing the clinical care of subjects with physical limitations, which impede the development of work and compromise psychosocial relationships, as well as to analyze the effects of incapacity and work leave in the life of the affected individuals. The technique used in psychological care corresponds to Brief Psychotherapy, under the guidance of Psychoanalytic theory and interface with Work Psychodynamics. In the course of the practice, psychological care was given to subjects who suffered physical limitations due to mutilations of limbs and other disabilities that limited the return to work and domestic activities. We perceive the intense use of mechanisms of egoic defenses, which during the therapeutic process were interpreted and made possible the process of elaboration against the condition experienced.
