The low back pain, defined as painful process of the lumbar spine of varied backgrounds, can be treated through various physical therapies techniques, including Isostretching method and convencional kinesiotherapy. The aim of this study was to compare Isostretching method and convencional kinesiotherapy in the treatment of pain and disability caused by back pain. For this, six female patients participated in this study with medical diagnosis of mechanical low back pain and a mean age of 34.33 years (SD = 11.44). For evaluation of disability was used “Oswestry Disability Index” at the beginning and end of treatment, and for the pain assessment was used visual analogue scale of pain at the beginning and end of treatment. Soon after, the patients were divided into two groups, each composed of three patients, of individual treatment for 10 sessions twice a week, the group A carried out nine postures of Isostretching method and group B stretching of the lower limbs muscles and strengthening of the transverse abdominal muscle. Statistical analysis was performed using the tests Komolgorov Smirnov, Student’s t and Wilcoxon, with 5% significance. The results showed that there was a difference in pain only in group A (p = 0.0266), but there were no differences between groups (p = 0.5), for disability both groups showed improvement (p = 0.0417 and p = 0.0412, respectively), however there was no difference between them (p = 0.25). Therefore, this study found that Isostretching method was not superior to conventional kinesiotherapy in the treatment of low back pain, further studies are needed.
