Preprint Policy

Semina: Ciências Biológicas e da Saúde accepts submissions of manuscripts that have previously been deposited in institutional repositories or recognized preprint servers, including SciELO Preprints, OSF Preprints, EmeRI, and similar platforms.

A preprint is defined as a preliminary version of a manuscript that has not yet undergone peer review and has been made publicly available through an open-access preprint server.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that the preprint complies with the journal's editorial and ethical requirements, particularly with respect to originality, prior publication, and research integrity.

During submission, authors must disclose whether the manuscript has previously been posted as a preprint, identify the repository or preprint server, and provide the corresponding DOI, where applicable. Failure to provide this information may result in rejection during the initial editorial screening.

If the manuscript is accepted for publication in Semina: Ciências Biológicas e da Saúde, authors must update the corresponding preprint record to include the complete citation of the published version together with its DOI.

Artificial Intelligence Policy

At Semina: Ciências Biológicas e da Saúde, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools during manuscript preparation is strictly limited to language editing, including grammar, spelling, syntax, and writing clarity.

The use of AI is not permitted for:

  • generating original scientific content, ideas, analyses, or data interpretation;
  • generating text, figures, tables, or results that replace human authorship;
  • any form of writing that may compromise the originality, research integrity, or authors' responsibility for the content of the manuscript.

Authors must ensure that all intellectual contributions, data, and conclusions presented in the manuscript are their own. Any permitted use of AI tools must be disclosed at the time of submission.

Failure to comply with these requirements may result in rejection of the manuscript or the adoption of appropriate corrective measures in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies.
