This paper focus on journalistic analysis of violence. It is a search for identification of violence rate as published in newspapers through messages, content, format, and motivation, as well as "model of criminality". After analysis of news published during a week in the chief newspapers of Parana (O Estado do Parana and Folha de Londrina) it was found that there is a predominance of physical violence over moral one. It was also found that the "Latin-American model of criminality" is more representative, there being a perfect identification between that model and the news printed.
