Abstract

The objective of this study was to quantify and describe malformations in genital tracts of 403 pregnant and non pregnant grade zebu cows examined macroscopically at post-mortem. The genital tracts were collected in a slaughterhouse located in Roraima. The animals examined presented 4.47% malformations in different portions of the genital tract. In pregnant reproductive tracts, unilateral partial ovarian hypoplasia (0.25%), paraovarian cyst (1,75%), and partial hymen persistense (0,50%) were observed. In nonpregnant reproductive (racts, bilateral total ovarian hypoplasia (0,25%), para ovarian cysts (1,50%) and double caudal opening of the cervix (0,25%) it was were observed. The results showed that the zebu cows examined presented low rate of genital mal formations.
