Abstract

Introduction: Experience report extension project "Bibliotherapy for children with cancer, reading as leisure activity" accomplished by Librarianship Course, Federal University of Ceará - UFC / Campus Cariri. 
Objective: To humanize the treatment of hospitalized children, acting out storytelling for therapeutic purposes. 
Methodology: Reading group and individual, storytelling, performance and drawing workshops. 
Results: bibliotherapy leads the pacification of the emotions, the baffling of the health problem faced reinforced by aesthetic qualities offered by the literature. Reading calms the emotions resulting from the disease and lead to states of spirits susceptible to treatment. 
Conclusions: The undergraduate degrees in librarianship are appreciating this area encouraging new processes of learning and skills, through the health-disease indicators complementarity needed to bring out the humane and ethical, within circumstances experienced in the hospital.
