Abstract

Objective: this research aims to identify studies that bring approaches to free and open source software in the archival records management.
Methodology: the research is classified as descriptive with a quali-quantitative approach. For data collection, a bibliographical research was carried out with a systematic literature review for the selection of studies, which were later analyzed using the content analysis method.
Results: 21 studies were selected and themes identified that provide an understanding of archival records management systems in terms of development, implementation, use, evaluation, analysis and preservation of archival records management, using free software or open code. As well as other tools and systems related to records management.
Conclusion: the deployment of free and open source software can be an interesting option for organizations looking for efficient and cost-effective solutions to manage their digital records.
