What can the cinema teach about the history? ideas of young students about the relationship between films and historical learning

Abstract

This paper gives an account of research conducted with students from ninth year (eighth grade) elementary school, a public school in Araucaria, about how they understand the relationship between film productions with historical themes and learning of history in the classroom. The investigative process was configured with the application and analysis of the results of a questionnaire with open questions directed to check students' understanding about the uses, functions and intentions of the film productions that deal with historical themes. It's also a brief discussion about the ways that historical films are understood and purposed to teach history. The considerations are established relationships that can be made between the analysis of placements of students about the historical films and the possibilities for creating a teaching based on the assumptions theoretical and methodological of the Historic Education.
