Abstract

Image is an important tool for contemporary conflicts, operating to construct meaning and dispute international legitimacy. This work departs from the concept of technical image to reflect on the dispute over affections related to the performance of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on contemporary digital platforms. To this end, we operationalize the concept of image-technique, in a way associated with the discussion on
the affective construction of reality. The objective is to understand, based on the theoretical framework, the strategic configurations linked to the images shared in the IDF profile to affectively construct meaning about military action, converging the political and aesthetic dimensions of the conflict. We conclude that the massive use of technical image as a basis for legitimacy is associated with the appearance of reality that it offers, enabling the construction
of specific political frameworks .
