Abstract

As online social networks become more popular, the fact that over 50% of brazilians joined to the relationship site orkut is noticeable. This research shows how the brazilians, especially those who live abroad, appropriate that platform to reinforce their cultural brand as a people. Orkut works as a non-place of a global and postmodern nature, capable of generating reterritorializations of the place Brazil and the way of life of immigrant Brazilians connected through the network.
