Abstract

This article reports the project “Olhares Cruzados” (“Looks Crusaders”) developed in 2010 by the researcher, which rescues the work of her grandfather, the photographer Bemerguy Vidal, who served in the city of Santarém (PA) in the decades from
1950 to 1970. The paper gives a brief history of activity in the state and addresses the issues of temporality in photography and its relation to memory.
