Are video games and electronic games historical sources? Are they cultural artifacts? Are there methods for this discussion? Is there a specialized historiography dedicated to their professionalization? The present text answers affirmatively to all these questions and problematizes issues of a field still in development, but with a growing demand from a historical perspective. Although this field of study has been gradually establishing an agenda in recent years, much can still be developed in Brazil with the encouragement of undergraduate and graduate programs.
