Identities and Memories: The strike of Paraná state’s teachers in 1988

This dissertation aims to analyze the memory related to the public teacher’s strike of 1988 in the state of Paraná. To design this analysis, in first place, we selected news reports about the walkout from contemporary journals: two daily journals were studied, the Folha de Londrina and O Estado do Paraná. Together with the selection of news published in these media, we analyze the publication of teachers’ representative entity - APP - called Folha do Professor. Based on discussions provided by the journals we prepared a set of interviews for the public teachers focused on their participation in the walkout. From the interviews conducted among the teachers we wrote an analysis about the memory construction of that historical event, in order to understand a possible identity formation related to that strike.Downloads
