Abstract

This text develops a review of the book Los Limits de la Cultura. A critique of the theories of identity, by the Argentinean anthropologist Alejandro Grimson, published in 2011 in Buenos Aires by the publisher Siglo XXI editors. In this work, the author analyzes central concepts of social sciences such as culture, identity, knowledge, nation and politics from the discussions generated by their classical and post-modern interpretations. The book's thesis raises an epistemological and methodological exhaustion of these notions, for which the author suggests an overcoming of both traditions in order to promote updated approaches to contemporary social problems. His proposal, then, will be reflected in the concept of cultural configurations throughout the six chapters that make up the work.
