Abstract

The ever-evolving landscape of our world is currently immersed in a complex and dynamic process of globalization, requiring a deeper comprehension of its socio-geographical intricacies. Geography, as a discipline, serves as a crucial tool not only for analyzing this ongoing transformation but also for fostering critical and reflective thinking among students. Through contemplation of their immediate surroundings, students can discern the intricacies of this process, bridging the gap between the local and the global. The primary objective of this article is to assess the level of interest students within the basic education network of Rio Branco, Acre, have in the field of geography. For the purposes of this study, we have employed a dialectical approach to scrutinize the school environment and its associated social context. The data collection technique involved administering questionnaires within classroom settings, accompanied by an in-depth documentary investigation. This research has unearthed a notable level of enthusiasm and interest among students with regard to the study of geography. Notably, students have reported minimal difficulties in comprehending the subject matter and have expressed satisfaction with the instructional methods employed by their teachers.
