Social Service and political union organization in the context of new unionism in the state of Paraná (1983-1994)

Abstract

The objective of this article is to analyze the factors that influence the political-union organization movement of social assistants in the context of new unionism in the creation and subsequent suspension of the activities of the Social Assistance Union in the State of Paraná in the period from 1983 to 1994. The study is based on bibliographic research in the productions of authors who discuss the subject, as well as documentary and field research with semi-structured interviews with actors who experienced this process. This is analyzed as a reference to understanding that the social assistants are members of the working class and that the decision to suspend activities is based on a strategy to strengthen the class and at the same time to inanimate participation in the professional category. union activities. It is understood that the collective perspective of incorporation of the professional categories in the union spaces of the general fight of the working class, presented and defended by the CUT (1986), remains unfinished, not being supported by its socio-historical documentation in Brazil, as also by the category professional in the State of Paraná. This study is the result of the master's dissertation of the Post-Graduation Program in Social Services of the State University of the West of Paraná - UNIOESTE, Toledo/PR campus.
