Abstract

This article addresses, through the analysis of gender and ethical reflection, the attribution to women, of the act of caring in bourgeois sociability. It focuses on the concern with the way it is presented, in a daily basis in women’s life, the inclusion of activities related to the care of other human beings in the process of growth or those who depend on the care of others to ensure the right to life. It shows that this incorporation is related to adherence to moral values and assignment of differentiated functions for men and women in this social state. It stresses the need for a critical analysis of this adherence enabling, this way, a tracking through free choices that beyond the web of causalities posed by material conditions of existence, may establish new values. It also signals to the importance of this debate in the construction of public policies aimed at the expansion of women empowerment.
