The objective of this paper is to report on the Programa de Formação Continuada de Professores de Inglês - PECPISC, that has been run in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina since 2000. First, the origin of the Programme is presented, and the different phases it has gone through are described. Second, three research studies are reported seeking to understand the kind of impact the programme has had on the professional lives of the participant teachers. Third, some relations are established between the narratives and the activities and the research studies and linked to future actions of the PECPISC Programme.
