Abstract

Studying the northeast regional speech from the lexical and phonetic-phonological perspectives have been our main concern for years. This is not only due to our origin, but to the eagerness to discover is the variations in the Portuguese language spoken in the Northeast are really regional – diatropic -, hypothesis that has always been considered by researchers, or if they are more social – diastratic -, therefore not identifying a region but a social class, the one with less educated people.
