The aim of this paper is to discuss the notion of "discourse" employed in some Functionalist theoretical models that, in several contexts, is mixed with the notion of discourse employed in Discourse Analysis academic manuals. Nowadays, such necessity is justified by the recent development of Simon Dik's Functional Grammar, known as "Functional Discourse Grammar" (oriented to the discourse), which has been developed by Kees Hengeveld (Universiteit van Amsterdam, Holland) and Lachlan Mackenzie (ILTEC-Lisbon, Portugal).
