Who fears communism? Alternative histories, historical falsehoods and the uses of anti-communism in the wake of post-truth

The present synthesis aims to debate the uses of anti-communism linked to the concepts of Alternative Histories, Historical Fallacies, Post-Truth, and Historical Revisionism during the Vargas Era (1930-1945). Through these concepts, we will seek to demonstrate how anti-communism is instrumentalized to achieve certain political objectives. In this case, we base ourselves on the historical processes that occurred during the Vargas Era, which also have influences and similarities with current processes involving fake news and the uses of the past. In this sense, we will seek to differentiate these concepts and their uses for the synthesis of the historical processes that occurred from 1930 onwards in Brazil.
