Efeitos epigenéticos transgeracionais da exposição a microplásticos

Resumo

A exposição a micro e nanoplásticos é um problema emergente e invisível que pode comprometer a saúde da população. A preocupação é maior quando essa exposição ocorre durante a gestação, período sensível para o desenvolvimento neurológico e somático do feto. As consequências dessa exposição ainda requerem estudos aprofundados sobre as alterações epigenéticas transgeracionais. Com isso, o objetivo desta revisão integrativa é analisar os efeitos epigenéticos transgeracionais da exposição a microplásticos. Foram consultadas publicações de 2020 a 2025, nas bases de dados do Pubmed, ScienceDirect e Scopus, estudos originais experimentais in vivo, no idioma inglês. Foram encontrados 64 artigos, que depois de seguir as estratégias de seleção, foram reduzidos a 5. Como resultado, os artigos encontraram que a exposição parental a MNPs pode causar efeitos transgeracionais adversos em gerações futuras não diretamente expostas. Os desfechos encontrados incluem impactos na reprodução, desenvolvimento, comportamento e padrões epigenéticos. Apesar da maioria dos estudos terem sido realizados em laboratório, e isso não corresponde à realidade da exposição a longo prazo como ocorre com os humanos, as evidências confirmam que a preocupação da toxicidade por micro e nanoplásticos pode ser real.
