Abstract

Cockroaches (Leucophae maderae e Peripianeta americana) have been captured in Itaguai and Paracambi municipality, and maintained in closed colony in the Insetisan Servitox Laboratory at Engenheiro Paulo de Frontin municipality were used in this experiment. Six species of protozoan have been identified on the posterior gut of these cockroaches: Nyctotherus ovalis, Lophomonas blattarum, Lophomonas striata, Gregarina blattarum, Hexamita periplanetae and Endamoeba Mattae. The protozoan was analysed in relation to host specie, sex stage and origin of the parasitic infection.
