Abstract

This paper presents the first results of a research about she structure and functioning of phytoplanktonic community of Tibagi River, State of Parana, Brazil. Fitfty nine samples were collected with a 30pm mesh net between 04/90 and 02/91 in thirty three samples it was found filamentous desmids and specimens of the genera Gonatozygon, Penium, Pleurotaenium e Tetmemorus. Twenty three taxa were identified, of which fifteen (65,2%) are first recorded for the State of Parana. The species Spondylosium desmidiiforme was the more constant in the localities sampled.
