Hepatitis Virus A (HVA) and B (HVB) markers were found in 575 patients assisted at Hospital Universitario Regional do Norte do Paraná. These patients submitted to a serology test. The discovery of serological markers was made by radioimmunoassay (Abbott Laboratories). There wore 497 patients positive for specific markers to hepatitis virus A, corresponding to 86,4% of the sample in which 78,4% were positive for IgG anti-HVA. For HVB markers, 342 (59,5%) patients were positive, divided in groups: 32% with acute Infection, 11,7% in the serologic window, and 15,8% in recovery. The results showed that the marker with the highest positively frequency was anti-HBc, which was found in 323 samples (37%). Consequently it was considered the highest security-maker to indicate the implications patients have with HVB.
