A administração de esteróides sexuais no inicio da gravidez provoca malformações fetais?

A análise dos dados disponíveis conduz a presente revisão a concluir que não está provado que o uso de progestágeno e/ou estrógeno durante a gravidez humana, cause anomalias do desenvolvimento em órgãos e tecidos extragenitais. Os dados também não permitem concluir que estes hormônios sexuais administrados durante a gravidez não possam, sob condições especiais, a serem definidas, ter algum efeito adverso no desenvolvimento fetal humano. Recomenda-se um estudo prospectivo para se estabelecer se há ou não uma correlação entre o uso de esferóides sexuais e malformações somáticas. Enquanto este estudo não for realizado, será prudente evitar o uso destas drogas durante a gestação.
